The peninsula (modern Turkey) that hosted much of Paul's missionary work and many of the churches addressed in the New Testament epistles — Ephesus, Colossae, Laodicea, Iconium, Lystra, and Derbe among them. Paul's team was at one point supernaturally redirected away from the province of Asia and toward Macedonia instead (Acts 16:6-10), and Peter's first letter is addressed to believers scattered across several of the region's provinces (1 Peter 1:1).
