A city in the Lycus Valley of Asia Minor, home to a church Paul had not personally founded or visited but wrote to (via Epaphras's report) to combat false teaching that diminished Christ's supremacy (Colossians 1:2, 7; 2:8-23). Philemon and the runaway slave Onesimus, addressed in Paul's shortest letter, were also from Colossae.
