A city in Pamphylia on the southern coast of Asia Minor, the first mainland stop after Cyprus on the first missionary journey. It was at Perga that John Mark left Paul and Barnabas to return to Jerusalem, a departure that later caused a sharp disagreement between the two missionaries (Acts 13:13; 15:37-39). On the way back they preached the word in Perga before going down to the port of Attalia and sailing for Antioch (Acts 14:25).
