Jezreel
First named: Joshua 19:18
A town in the fertile valley of the same name, site of Ahab and Jezebel's royal residence and of Naboth's vineyard, which Jezebel seized after arranging Naboth's murder — provoking Elijah's denunciation of the royal house (1 Kings 21). Jezebel later met her violent, prophesied death there when Jehu came to seize the throne (2 Kings 9:30-37).
