A port city on the Aegean coast of Asia Minor, one of the seven churches addressed in Revelation. The letter to Smyrna contains no rebuke: the church there is poor in circumstances but rich in faith, warned of coming persecution and imprisonment and urged to be faithful to death for the crown of life (Revelation 2:8-11).
