Ararat
Also called: Mountains of Ararat
First named: Genesis 8:4
Disputed identification: Traditionally associated with the mountains of modern eastern Turkey, but the text names a mountain range, not a single peak, and no exact site is fixed.
The mountains where Noah's ark came to rest as the floodwaters receded (Genesis 8:4). Sennacherib's sons later fled there after murdering him (2 Kings 19:37).
