Job — Main Speaker by Chapter
Apart from the prologue and part of the epilogue, the book of Job is a sequence of monologues — Job, his three friends, Elihu, and finally the LORD, each in turn. Each row below is one speaker; each bar is one unbroken speech, laid out across Job's 42 chapters left to right, so you can see at a glance how often — and how briefly — Job's three friends get a turn compared to his own replies. Bars are clickable and link to that person's page. Hover or focus a bar for the verse where that speech begins.
Bildad's third speech (ch. 25) is unusually short, and Zophar never gives a stated third speech. This chart follows the received text as printed, which continuously credits chs. 26-31 to Job (see 27:1, “Then Job continued his discourse”), including the meditation on wisdom in ch. 28.
